Advantages and disadvantages of using computers in… A regular lesson becomes extraordinary using technology. Learning becomes fun and has a lasting effect for both teachers and students.Good there have been huge programs / apps, etc that can be easily accessible with just one click of a finger. A creative / resourceful teacher can network with other teachers around the world and teaching / learning becomes global, authentic and real. BUT there are two pages to look at ...advantages:1st Engaging lessons can take placeWith image presentations, video or voice can add variety when delivering a lesson. The pupils are more receptive when they take the day's lesson, are more active during the activities and have longer retention of learning. In short, more fun and ways can be obtained through the technology in the classroom.2nd Important teaching toolPresent them a video of a process, procedure or what can help the teacher do other necessary things, be sure to plan the next lesson, grade submitted tasks, build test questions etc.3rd Individualized or differentiated lessons can be downloadedA classroom consists of different types of teachers - fast, moderate and slow - therefore a creative teacher is required to create teacher stations intended for different students. And an important tool is a desktop or laptop computer in a corner for viewing, examining, downloading / uploading files, among others. While the rest are busy learning the lessons through a video presentation, others are busy playing manipulative, obstructive tests - for preschoolers, making corrective instructions for challenged readers or non-numerates.But no matter how advantageous computers in the classroom there are still disadvantages to incorporating them into the lesson, so note these:Cons:1st Navigation skills etc. should be taughtIt is a prerequisite for the students to have the skills to start up / shut down, use the cursor, make pictures, connect a printer among other things. Sans these skills would be frustrating for a student to enjoy learning and teaching teachers to enjoy.2nd Limited time when using a video etcUnless the entire video lasts only 1 or 2 minutes, it should not eat the whole hour of the lesson. Technology is not meant to replace engagement time or what but meant to increase learning interest, emphasize a point, show process / places, to name a few. Here you are.You can add your own wisdom about the advantages and disadvantages of using computers in the classroom. Regardless of what experiences you have had, what matters most - the trip had become fun and meaningful, both for students and teachers.
